Bit Her Sweet Christopher Street depicts the Christopher Street park in New York’s west village in mid-summer 2017. Inspired by Claude Debussy’s song cycle Cinq Poèmes de Baudelaire—the piece references the harmonies, his vocal writing style with fluid rhythms and evolving time signatures governed by the natural speech rhythms in the poetic line, as well as Baudelaire’s poetry.
